    Key Takeaways

    • Blackrock’s IBIT drove outflows of $225.18M from bitcoin ETFs, ending a 7-day inflow streak.
    • Ether ETFs gained $26.32M on July 23, widening the institutional split with bitcoin.
    • HYPE fell $1.02M as XRP and solana stayed flat, keeping demand centered on 2 major assets.

Bitcoin ETFs See $225 Million Exit as Net Assets Fall Below $80 Billion

The week’s strongest crypto exchange-traded fund (ETF) trend broke abruptly. After pulling in nearly $1 billion over seven trading days, bitcoin funds suffered a sharp reversal as investors withdrew more than $225 million.

Ether ETFs proved more resilient. They extended their inflow run to a fifth session, highlighting a growing split between the two largest institutional crypto trades.

    Blackrock Drives Bitcoin ETF Reversal

Blackrock’s IBIT led the bitcoin retreat with a $202.48 million withdrawal. That represented about 90% of the category’s total net outflow.

Bitwise’s BITB lost $7.03 million, while Fidelity’s FBTC recorded a $5.64 million exit. Franklin Templeton’s EZBC shed $5.61 million, and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB posted $4.30 million in outflows.

Morgan Stanley’s MSBT was the only bitcoin fund to attract fresh capital, adding $5.01 million. Total Bitcoin ETF trading value reached $1.63 billion. Combined net assets closed at $78.82 billion, down from $80.36 billion a day earlier.

The reversal ended a streak that had delivered $999.38 million in net inflows. It also showed how quickly demand can shift, even after several sessions of steady institutional buying.

Ether Holds Firm as Altcoin Funds Struggle

Ether ETFs attracted $26.32 million, extending their positive run to five trading days.

Fidelity’s FETH led with a $14.93 million addition. Blackrock’s ETHA brought in $8.49 million, while ETHB added $2.90 million. No Ether fund reported a net outflow. Trading value across the category totaled $564.90 million, while net assets ended the session at $10.32 billion.

The inflow came exactly two years after nine U.S. spot ether ETFs began trading on July 23, 2024. Their launch opened a regulated route for investors seeking direct exposure to the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency.

HYPE ETFs continued their difficult stretch with a $1.02 million outflow, entirely from Grayscale’s HYPG. The category recorded $8.84 million in trading value and closed with $294.15 million in net assets. HYPE funds have now posted only one inflow session over the past 11 trading days, a notable slowdown from the strong demand seen after their debut.

XRP and solana ETFs recorded no net flows. XRP fund assets closed at $1.01 billion, while Solana products ended with $885.84 million.

The week has delivered little momentum for altcoin ETFs. XRP, Solana and HYPE products have moved between small inflows, quiet sessions and withdrawals, leaving institutional demand firmly concentrated in bitcoin and ether.
