    Insider Brief

    • RoboStore has launched Robo Inc., a U.S.-based robotics manufacturing and systems-integration company, with plans to open a 66,000-square-foot Long Island facility by the first quarter of 2027.
    • The launch comes shortly after new U.S. restrictions on advanced foreign-made robots, while Robo Inc. plans to emphasize U.S.-based assembly, localized data infrastructure, security reviews and application-specific integration.
    • Robo Inc. will take a hardware-agnostic approach built on RoboStore’s experience selling and deploying more than 1,500 humanoid and quadruped robots to about 4,500 customers, including Harvard, MIT, Amazon and Nvidia.

After a year in stealth, foreign-made robot distributor RoboStore has launched a U.S.-based robotics manufacturing and systems-integration company called Robo Inc.

According to Robo Inc., the New York-based company plans to open a 66,000-square-foot facility on Long Island that is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027. The company said the site will support engineering, software, integration, production, testing, service and customer support.

The public launch comes just two weeks after the U.S. banned new advanced foreign-made robotics.

“With U.S.-based assembly, localized data infrastructure, and domestic integration, Robo Inc. will create a robotics platform built for American compliance,” said Teddy Haggerty, founder and CEO of RoboStore and Robo Inc. “RoboStore gave us a front-row seat to what customers actually need from robotics. Rather than more far-out promises, customers want solutions that can be deployed now, built around a specific job and supported over time. We’re moving beyond selling robots to building a localized ecosystem that allows U.S. organizations to put robotics to work responsibly and at scale.”

The company noted that the new business builds on RoboStore’s experience distributing foreign-made humanoid and quadruped robots in North America. RoboStore said it has sold and deployed more than 1,500 robots and served about 4,500 customers, including Harvard, MIT, Amazon and Nvidia. RoboStore is also an official distributor of China’s Unitree Robotics, in the news this week for its Shanghai IPO.

Rather than developing a single general-purpose robot, Robo Inc. will take a hardware-agnostic approach, selecting robot platforms and components based on the needs of individual applications. The company said it will focus on systems that can address defined operational problems with clear expectations for performance, safety and integration into existing workflows.

The approach is based in part on patterns RoboStore said it has seen across purchases, deployments, repairs and integration requests. The company said customers often need help turning available robot hardware into systems that can perform practical work, rather than waiting for fully general humanoid robots capable of handling a wide range of tasks.

Robo Inc. is also incorporating security and safety reviews into its integration process and those checks will cover areas including data flows, network access, software controls, operating environments and risks tied to specific applications, according to the company.

Robo Inc. said it will also work with customers on applicable cybersecurity, safety and regulatory requirements as part of deployment planning.

RoboStore added that it will continue to support its existing installed base and inventory, including parts, repairs and upgrades for the robot platforms it services. Roboverse, its developer community of more than 4,000 members, will continue operating under the Robo Inc. umbrella.
